This venerable railroad trestle, gracefully standing on Poole Road in the rural expanse of Boone County, Illinois, marks the last vestige of aged wooden trestles still actively employed by the railroad today. A moment of serendipity allowed me to be perfectly positioned to capture the enchanting sunrise that embraced this historic structure. Remarkably, this photo earned the distinction of being a winner in Bryon Banks' First Annual Calendar Contest, proudly adorning the esteemed March page. Furthermore, it secured another victory in the Fall Photgraphy Challenge Contest, graciously sponsored by Illinois Representative Joseph Sosnowski. Both this captivating trestle image and the mesmerizing sunset barn photo will find a distinquished place among past contest winners, gracing the walls of Representative Sosnowski's Springfield office.
